Welcome to september

Hello again from my now much organized ceramics studio in the beautiful Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Over the last month, the space has transformed from a partially functional space— with empty shelves, a chaotic workflow, but delightful assortment of plants—into a warm and welcoming studio and showroom that will soon be ready for guests.

While the space will continue to evolve as I settle in, I’m so excited to open this current iteration to the public on Sunday, September 14th, from 11 AM to 6 PM, during the Ravenswood ArtWalk. This annual event celebrates the neighborhood’s industrial history and the artists who work here today. There will be studio tours, an outdoor market, live music, and more! The ArtWalk takes place over the weekend of September 13th and 14th, but due to a scheduling conflict, I’ll only be open on the 14th.

During the event, I’m thrilled to debut a new limited-edition collection created in collaboration with Garrett Becker Violins. The collection includes just five pieces, but they’re some of my favorites yet. As with our past collaborations, I create the ceramic component, and Garrett completes each piece with his beautifully handcrafted wood designs. This series features a special speckled clay body, glazed in clear to let the textures and forms of both ceramic and wood take center stage. My personal favorite? A small, acorn-shaped jar with a sculptural lid that we’ve lovingly nicknamed the “Pringle Jar.” You can preview the collection here and any pieces that don’t find homes this Sunday will be for sale on my website.

Looking beyond ArtWalk, I’m also gearing up for the holiday season. That means finalizing orders with my wonderful shop partners across the U.S., planning events both in and out of the studio, and creating new pieces to stock my shelves and online shop, long before most people are even decorating for Halloween. While I’m proud to operate as a primarily made-to-order business—handcrafting each piece to meet the specific needs of my clients—I understand that during the holidays a three-week turnaround doesn’t work for everyone. So, I try to keep more pieces readily available.

Among the Little Fire Ceramics classics returning this holiday season, I’m especially excited about my serveware pieces—designed both for gatherings and for quiet, personal, moments at home. My go-to is the Half Moon Tray: it’s the perfect size to leave out on an entry or dining table, holding a candle or vase of flowers when it’s not serving your favorite snacks. I also have a few surprises and limited-edition offerings in the works, but those aren’t quite ready to share just yet!

Outside the studio, I’ve been trying to soak up every last bit of summer here in Chicago. Bike rides are getting cooler and I’m a little sad to think I may have already had my final lake swim of the year. Still, it’s easier to say goodbye to summer knowing that fall brings changing leaves, long walks with warm cups of tea, and restaurants and cafes with cozy fireplaces. With a busy season ahead, it’s these small moments of quiet and connection with nature that I’m most looking forward to.

Whether you’re joining in person on the 14th or following from afar, there’s more to come this season. Keep an eye on the my online store for new releases, or sign up for the newsletter to be the first to hear about studio events, collaborations, and holiday collections.
